More Than What We Wear

The life we create around us becomes the life we experience within us.

More Than What We Wear

Samadhi Living is an independent slow fashion and lifestyle brand founded in Bali by Nathalie Qwick.

At the heart of Samadhi is our clothing collection: timeless, comfortable and versatile pieces made from natural fibres and produced in small quantities in Bali.

But Samadhi Living has never been only about what we wear. Itis also expressed through interiors, homes, food, craft, gathering and the way we choose to live.

"Samadhi Living is not simply a clothing brand, but a way of looking at what surrounds us — what we wear, what we create, what we eat and how we gather."

Made With Intention

Timeless by Design

Our approach to slow fashion is built around timelessness, comfort, practicality and versatility.

We don’t create seasonal collections or design around passing trends. Many of our original designs from 2018 remain part of the collection today.

Many pieces can be styled in several ways, with adjustable ties and flowing silhouettes designed to move with you. With the exception of our unisex linen shirts, the Samadhi Collection is one size.

Craft & Dyes

Our collections incorporate hand-dyeing, botanical dyes and tie-dye. We began experimenting with plant dyes in 2019, and today approximately 20% of the collection is plant-dyed.

Natural variations are part of the character of something made by hand.

Rooted in Indonesia

Our clothing is made in Bali, while other pieces connect us to different parts of the archipelago. Bags are handmade in Borneo, and selected materials are gathered and worked with according to what nature provides.

Everything has an origin, a material, a maker and a story.

The Story Behind Samadhi

Before Samadhi, there were years of working with vintage clothing, reclaimed furniture, food and interiors, with an instinct to see value in what already exists rather than always creating more.

After moving to Indonesia, vintage clothing was sold beneath the trees on the beach in Gili Trawangan. Seasonal food and locally available ingredients shaped restaurants and gathering spaces created with driftwood, vintage textiles, antique wooden chests, shells, flowers and natural materials.

In 2018, the earthquakes in Lombok and the Gili Islands unexpectedly brought the next chapter of the story to Bali.

The People Behind The Collection

Those first designs began a working relationship with Anggi, who still produces the collection today through her small, locally owned and women-owned Balinese production business.

The relationship has grown alongside Samadhi, with pieces developed slowly and produced in small quantities rather than around seasonal cycles.

Food & The Samadhi Table

Food has been part of the Samadhi story from the beginning — from seasonal lunches made from surplus market produce in Sweden to restaurants beside the sea in Indonesia.

That story is now becoming The Samadhi Cookbook, bringing together recipes, memories and the food philosophy that has grown alongside Samadhi.

What we put into our bodies, what we wear against our skin and what we surround ourselves with are all connected.

Craft, Culture & Connection

Our relationship with traditional craft also reaches beyond Indonesia.

Time spent with Indigenous communities in the Brazilian Amazon has deepened our understanding of the relationship between pattern, craftsmanship, nature, culture and land.

Through an ongoing collaboration with the Huni Kuin and the Living Bridge Foundation, Samadhi is exploring how selected traditional patterns can become part of textiles through plant dyes and handmade block printing — while acknowledging their origins and creating ways for the communities carrying that knowledge to benefit.

Time spent with the Yawanawa has also included learning from women about their patterns, songs and traditions.

Traditional knowledge deserves more than inspiration. Its origins should be acknowledged, its knowledge respected and the people carrying it should benefit when it travels beyond their community.

Gathering & Giving Back

Gathering Through Alumaa

The same connection to people and place continues through Alumaa, created around cacao, women’s circles and community.

Alumaa is a place for women to gather, drink cacao, learn, share and belong.

Our cacao comes from Mama Bali, and a portion of Alumaa’s profits supports Bali Street Mums, giving back to mothers and children on the island where the cacao is grown.

Samadhi Angels

Through Samadhi Angels, 20% of profits from our baby collection are donated to support children in Gaza.

As Samadhi grows, we are also developing ways for our clothing and collaborations to support communities and organisations protecting mothers, Indigenous knowledge, forests and Mother Nature

The Samadhi Way

Samadhi is ultimately about conscious choices.

What we wear against our skin. What we eat. What we bring into our homes. Who we surround ourselves with. What we give our time and attention to.

Not as a search for a perfect life, but as a way of remembering our connection to nature while living in a modern world.

Clothing. Food. Interiors. Homes. Craft. Gathering.

Different expressions of the same philosophy.

"The life we create around us becomes the life we experience within us."

The Samadhi Living Transformative Journey

For those who want to take the philosophy into their own lives, The Samadhi Living Transformative Journey looks at what surrounds us, what shapes us and what may need to be cleared, changed or created.

A way to make more space for creativity, clarity and your true self to emerge.
